Acer AL-1931 19" LCD monitor review
The Acer AL-1931 is a good value but not high performance 19" LCD monitor. This LCD monitor uses the same Fujitsu panel as the Sony SDM S93 also reviewed on this site. This makes the monitors comparable in performance although with a RGB and DVI input options this Acer 19" seems to be a much better buy.

Acer AL-1931" LCD monitor Review
RGB and DVI input, average performance, low price
The Acer AL-1931 19" LCD is not for gamers but is great for office/Internet work
The image quality, contrast and brightness are all perfectly acceptable for graphics work. Text is crisp and the colors are perfectly balanced especially if you use the DVI input. The monitor comes with a very good preset for the DVI input connection and you'll get great display quality if you use it.
Like the Sony this monitor is let down by a slow response time. This makes fast action gaming impossible but for office work this is in no way a problem.
Acer AL-1931 19" LCD monitor specifications:
- 25ms response time
- Normal VGA (D-sub) connector only
- Contrast ratio 700:1
- Brightness of 200cd/mē
- 19" 1280 by 1024 native resolution
My favorite feature of this monitor is the TV or RGB input. This lets you use this monitor as a TV set and so you can watch TV while you work.
A slightly negative characteristic is that this computer monitor is not as bright as most 17" LCDs. This will not be an issue for most users but those that have direct sunlight shining on their desk may want to look for a brighter monitor.
My conclusion on the Acer AL-1931 19" LCD monitor
If you're looking for an inexpensive and large LCD computer monitor then the Acer AL-1931 is definitely worth a look, especially if you don't play any action games. The TV input will be useful for some people but completely redundant for others. I was impressed with it's default DVI configuration making this monitor a fantastic plug n play buy with instant perfect color, contrast and brightness settings out of the box.
If you need higher performance and can forgo display size (but not resolution) then I would recommend getting a newer low response time 17" such as the Hitachi also reviewed on this site.
